Got back to Lander last week after spending most of the summer doing two NOLS courses in Alaska! The first was a 30 day hiking course in the Eastern Alaska Range (my first as an instructor). The second was a 21 day sea kayaking course on Prince William Sound full of Naval Academy Midshipmen (a training block for them) which I tagged along on exclusively to shoot video. I put up a Flickr album of each course, video content to follow in the not-too-distant future, enjoy!
Finished up a couple freelance design projects, it’s always nice to take a break from final cut and get back to the ol’ photoshop and illustrator every now and again.
Trout Unlimited – “Conserving, protecting, and restoring North America’s cold water fisheries and their watersheds”
My friend Scott over at the Wyoming branch of the nationally run non-profit asked me for a Trout Unlimited logo that was specific to Wyoming. We decided to take the iconic “Bucking Bronco” and add a little twist.
International Climbers’ Festival – Started 18 years ago by climbing legend Todd Skinner, the Climbers’ Fest is a pretty cool event put on every year by the Lander community in an effort to get people out and well… climb and drink beer! I’ve volunteered to help out with their marketing campaign for the past two years now. Here’s this years poster.
Oh. And here are some horses.
Just got back from a 34 day training course to become an instructor with the NOLS. Here are some photos from the training which took place in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico and Cochise Stronghold in Arizona. First order of business as a new instructor is teaching a hiking course in Alaska!

Brian and I spent three weeks in Arizona shooting for NOLS at both Cochise Stronghold and the Santa Teresa mountains. Here are some stills from the trip. Stay tuned for upcoming releases on http://www.nols.tv to see the footage we shot.

Took me a while to get this one edited as I didn’t have any specific deadline for it until recently. With the help of NOLS and other local sponsors I hosted a showing of the Reel Rock Tour for Lander and finished up this video to debut it at the show. We had a great turnout with almost 70 people packing into the Gannett Grill to watch some sweet sweet climbing porn. Check out my vid of me and some buds bouldering in Utah!
Very excited about this video I shot of my buddy Chris sending his hardest new line of the summer. Check it out!
May, June, and July have been some of the best months I can remember having lived, seriously. It started with a two week trip to Bolivia with Jason, Emily, Forrest & Dad where we visited several major cities and saw much of the Bolivian landscape. Then came a 30 day NOLS course focusing on mountaineering in the North Cascades and rock climbing in Squamish. These spectacular outings were topped off by coming back to Lander for an awesome few weeks of climbing with friends. Check out a video I made about the Annual Climber’s Festival that took place in Lander a couple weeks ago.
I’ve also been getting more excited about Flickr and have posted images from the NOLS course as well as the most recent climbing trip. Bolivia photos coming soon!
